Chicago Farmer & Bill Poss at the Stellar Cellar!

Tuscan Hills Winery, 2200 Historic Hills Dr, Effingham

Noted troubadour and songwriter "Chicago Farmer" will be in concert at the Stellar Cellar in Effingham on Sunday, April 12th at 6 p.m. It will be a split bill concert with Effingham-based songwriter/storyteller Bill Poss.

The son of a small town farming community, Cody Diekhoff logged plenty of highway and stage time under the name Chicago Farmer before settling in the city in 2003. Profoundly inspired by fellow mid-westerner John Prine, he’s a working-class folk musician to his core. His small town roots, tilled with city streets mentality, are turning heads North and South of I-80.

"I'm very excited to be sharing the bill with him" says Bill Poss, who is also promoting the show. "We are doing these micro-concert events and he is a perfect fit. A talented and seasoned performer like Chicago Farmer can do great things in front of 50-100 people, but they need to have the attention of the audience and the Stellar Cellar provides the perfect environment.”

Both performers will perform solo, each playing one set starting at 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door. They can be purchased online by using the provided link, or at Tuscan Hills Winery, or from Bill Poss directly (512-203-4619).

Here's what CBS Chicago had to say about Chicago Farmer: "This is not your average ‘man with guitar.’ Cody Diekhoff’s approach to solo folk music is traditional, but his soul & energy are uncommonly powerful. Arriving with his classic acoustic guitar style is a voice smooth but broken-in that sounds wise beyond its years. He will stomp out a beat in leather boots to drive home a point and throw down a handsome harmonica solo to put a song over the top. The songs are about the places he’s been and the people he’s met, so local ideas are abound in this music from the heart.”

"It's my mission and my passion to provide top-quality entertainment from outside the mainstream," says Bill Poss, "and Chicago Farmer certainly fits the bill.”
